About Jyotirmai Club
Started as a humble venture by 4 Kolkata housewives, Mrs. Prabha ji Shridhar, Mrs. Kumudini ji Khaitan, Mrs Krishna ji Khaitan and Mrs Draupadi ji Khaitan, with a shared vision of uplifting the less privileged, Jyotirmai Club has grown from strength to strength over the decades. What began as a small initiative driven by compassion and purpose has now evolved into a strong and dedicated community of over 550 active members, all working tirelessly towards the realization of our collective goals.
Over the years, the scope and scale of our activities have expanded manifold, allowing us to reach and positively impact countless marginalized women and children. Through our sustained efforts, we have been able to touch lives, bring hope and create meaningful opportunities for those who need them the most.
Our work is carried out through multi-faceted programmes focusing on health, education, and skill development. Our primary objective remains the empowerment of women — enabling them to gain confidence, claim financial independence, and build better lives for themselves and their families. For more than six decades, we have worked relentlessly to combat poverty, bridge inequalities and fight social exclusion.
At the same time, we are deeply committed to the holistic development of our members, providing them with platforms to learn, lead, and grow both personally and socially. With every initiative, Jyotirmai Club continues to uphold its founding spirit — empowering women, transforming communities and lighting the way towards a more inclusive and equitable future.
